New "Annointed" Brother In My Old Hall...
by pale.emperor ini've only just stopped laughing.. in my old hall there's a brother who's now claiming to be of the anointed.. he's 28.. i do wonder if he's doing this for attention, if he's awake and messing with them, or if he really is that deluded.
when i was in he was an ms. which surprised even me because only a year earlier than that he was "a bit of a lad", is rubbish at talks and relies on his elder uncle to get him out of trouble all the time.. i guess this now means he's get his pick of jw sisters.
he's been after the same one as the rest of his peers since 2014..

back in the 60's there was a couple--i guess--late 30's ?--he rarely attended--didnt work for a living..but they had numerous children. his haggard wife used to drag some of the kids to the meetings.
then one memorial--he partook of the emblems . there was uproar about it. one bro said " well--he may be going to heaven--but he will be leaving his own great crowd on earth "

selling kingdom halls.
by stan livedeath inive chosen " scandals and coverups" subject area--because it is a scandal.. back when i was a dub--in the 60's--in birmingham uk---only a few congregations had their own hall.
most rented school halls and other buildings available to the public.
to have their own hall--dedicated to jehovah--was a lifetime dream for many.. to be able to have a hall built--obviously required land..and to get land--and planning permission to build a hall---was expensive--and difficult.

back when i was a dub--in the 60's--in Birmingham UK---only a few congregations had their own hall. most rented school halls and other buildings available to the public. to have their own hall--dedicated to jehovah--was a lifetime dream for many.
to be able to have a hall built--obviously required land..and to get land--and planning permission to build a hall---was expensive--and difficult. it often took years of saving donations--as well as paying rent on the temporary place. then--if land became available an application to the WTS for a loan was often required.
some congregations were able to buy ready built places--sometimes disused chapels--often requiring extensive repairs and renovations.
then came the quick-builds--needing 100's of man-hours given by volunteers.
in very recent years the WTS decided to "forgive" the loans / mortgages--but the members of each congregation still had to donate the money they would have paid in loan interest.
imagine the dismay many brothers must feel when their beloved hall is snatched away from them and sold.
how many of you have first hand experience of this ?

Chapter 31 New Boy 50 years a Watchtower slave
by new boy inchapter 31. murder suicide and death at the big house.
the people at bethel were killing us spiritually and sometimes they killed us physically too.. many of the old timers were in the infirmary laying there just waiting to die of natural causes.
some had served there for over fifty years.

for a very brief few days back in the late 80's i did consider going back--as a way to get round my own kids shunning me. a talk to my old jw dad put my mind at rest--he said it would only work if i really loved jehovah! i fell at the first hurdle.
in the 90's my wife was invited to a cousin's son's wedding--in ther local k-hall. we went! i saw a few nudge each other at the sight of me in there. but now--the young couple are long divorced--and well out of the cult. the parents--also long out: and as for the k hall--its been sold and the bruvs have to share another hall.
when my old jw mum died--a service was held at the crematorium..a dub event. i endured it for my dads sake.
when dad died last year--i made the arrangments. no service--just a committal at the crem. just me--a couple of friends--both xj's...and a couple of staff from the care home he lived at. no jw's attended..mainly because i never told any.

My Father has brandished me with the "APOSTATE" word for talking about the BIBLE!
by stuckinarut2 inso after three years of fading, my elder father has never really asked why we have chosen to stop attending.. today, after a mixed discussion, he starts talking about the "solution to all the world problems" and says "i don't know what you now believe, but i believe gods kingdom will fix everything" i let the comment go, and didn't respond.. then he goes on about the video "remember the wife of lot" because he just came from the convention last weekend.
"don't get caught up in this system...blah blah".
i couldn't help myself, and said one thing "dad, that video failed to show the next chapter of that account.
